About Us Our Client Group Our Philosophy of Care Education and Recreation

Community Places offers an innovative, community based residential service for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. It has been developed by professionals who have extensive
experience with this client group, working in close consultation with service users.

We are aware of the increasing number of placements for people with learning disabilities and complex needs in specialised, large scale private sector
institutions, which are often eographically remote and very expensive.

Our experience has taught us that many such individuals can thrive in a community setting, provided they have access to intensive support and flexible, individualised, person-centred care packages.

Our client group have learning disabilities and their complex needs often challenge mainstream
services. They may present with challenging behaviour, mental health needs, psychological or emotional diffi culties, physical disabilities or autism.

Clients may have spent time in a hospital setting and subsequently require a specialised community service, or may currently be living in a community setting but require more intensive support.
We are able to accommodate individuals who have the potential to display a high level of challenging
behaviour.

Community Places provides clients with high quality residential accommodation and intensive support, which positively encourages individual development. We aim to remove the barriers and overcome the challenges, enabling service users to reach their full potential by developing the skills, confi dence and competencies needed to cope effectively and independently in all aspects of their lives.

We use positive strategies to manage clients with complex needs, such as relational management and de-escalation techniques, all within a calm environment. By achieving the right balance between service user empowerment and risk management with safety and support, we are able to provide high quality, person-centred and cost effective care in a community setting.
